Lady Bucks Valiant in 64-47 Loss to Lourdes
FARWELL – All seasons must end. When your season does end, it should be in front of a packed house filled to the rafters with folks who really care about you and support you through thick and thin. This would be the ending of the 2014-15 season for the Lady Bucks varsity basketball program.
Although they came up short in the 64-47 first-round loss to Lourdes Regional, Bucktail played well and aggressively to the very end. The difference maker was the shot percentage for the Lady Raiders. Both teams had opportunities, the Lady Bucks just did not fare as well on scoring.
Maria Morgan led the Lady Bucks once more scoring 27 points, 8 assists and 3 rebounds. Alaina Trip scored 10 points and 5 boards. Tiffany Werts had 4 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals while Abby Ransom also scored 4 and had 2 rebounds. Emily Mills scored 2 points and collected 4 rebounds. Shae Cowfer had 2 assists for the Lady Bucks.
Bucktail can hold their heads high for their performance in their first-ever home district 4 playoff game that capped off a season with a school record for most wins in a single season of 17 and features the all-time scoring leader in Clinton County high school history.
It was somehow fitting and maybe it was inevitable that Morgan’s final points as a high school player would also be the final points of the season scored for Bucktail. Her final bucket originated from a crafty steal on the defensive end followed by a full-court solo fast break layup that appeared to float effortless into the hoop like she had done hundreds of times before in her career.
With that last bucket, Morgan closed out her scoring total at 2,407.
