LHU Boxing Club to Host 36th Annual Invitational

lhu-boxingLOCK HAVEN – The collegiate boxing world will descend upon Mat Town on the last day of February as the Bald Eagles host the annual show featuring some of the top pugilists of the Mid-Atlantic Region at Thomas Field House on the campus of Lock Haven University.

LHU is a well-known term in the collegiate boxing world boasting some 34 national champions and 128 All-Amercans, including six boxers who reached that status in all four years of eligibility.

Collegiate boxing at The Haven is a mundane task. There are no scholarships, no financial endorsements or monetary incentives of any kind. Just the pure pleasure and satisfaction of a job well done. Participating in the sport consists of hundreds of hours of pure hard work conditioning, honing skills and maintaining proper weight control through healthy nutrition.

For those who reach the pinnacle in the sport, it is a gratifying experience that will set their inner strength and perseverance to enhance the rest of their lives.

The list of schools participating in the invitational is quite prestigious and includes: U.S. Military Academy (Army), U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Penn State University, Shippensburg University, West Virginia University, Kutztown University, and the host school, Lock Haven University.

Boxing will begin on Feb. 28, 2015 with the Preliminary Card at 1 p.m. and conclude the Main Card at 7 p.m. Call 570-660-5100 or email ken.cooper@ncbaboxing.org for advanced tickets and reservations.
